After arriving at San Jose's Santa Maria International Airport, be prepared
to be whisked away to Arenal home of the active Volcano and Hot Springs.
Envision a sky illuminated by volcanic eruptions. Feel the warmth of flowing
thremo-mineral waters. Imagine yourself in this magical setting with the
added luxury of outstanding facilities and exceptional service. This is
Tabacon where we will spend our first two nights. After our stay here, we
board a chartered bus to Monteverde, a Cloudforest Preserve which traverses
the Tilarán Mountain Range, which is part of the Continental Divide. The
area has been most appropriately named Monteverde, “Green Mountain”, since
that is what travelers find at the end of the hour and 30-minutes ride up a
long and steep gravel road that winds up the mountain range due northeast of
the Pan-American Highway. The Preserve is a 5,000 hectare wildlife
sanctuary, with plentiful tree, bird and insect life.
After our two nights in Monteverde we will head to Punteranas and cross the
Nicoya Peninsula by ferry to Playa Tambor which is right on the Pacific
Coast of Costa Rica, located in a natural, incredibly beautiful setting. Our
hotel the Barcelo Tambor (all inclusive) was awarded the Blue Flag, which
certifies that the nearby beaches are safe and clean. It has a 6 km-long
beach surrounded by several natural reserves. It has 2 restaurants (1 buffet
& 1 a la carte) with typical regional cuisine, 3 bars (includes swim up pool
bar) and grill snack bar plus more .
