Bangkok - the Venice of the East
Thailand’s vibrant capital - offers a variety of delightful sights and activities for your final two days. Here you’ll discover the spectacular marvels of an ancient culture which includes golden temples and sumptuous Royal Palaces. Explore picturesque open-air markets packed with bargain souvenirs and the bustling life on the Chao Phraya River and canals (klongs) which surround the city. Included is a sightseeing tour with a visit to the Royal Grand Palace & Emerald Buddha Temple. This has been described as “too gorgeous, too colorful to be true.”

  Chiang Mai

After two nights in Bangkok, we’ll depart for Chiang Mai (one hr. flight north of Bangkok) located in a lush valley surrounded by verdant, forest hills. The “Shangri-LA” of Thailand, the nation’s principal northern city is noted for its history, culture, antique temples and unique traditional handicrafts. Your two day stay provides a wonderful introduction to the scenery and cultures of “up country” Thailand.

Included on our stay here will be an afternoon tour to Wat Phrathat Do Suthep, one of the most magnificent of the city temples. After our visit here we’ll descend back to Chiang Mai for more sightseeing. Once back you are free to more fully explore Thailand’s premier crafts center with literally hundreds of shops bursting with crafts to suit every taste. After dinner, THE NIGHT BAZAAR is the place to be. And don’t forget to enjoy a Thai massage ($9 hr.). The next day (optional trip) is a day that you’ll be sure to remember fondly. We start with a morning visit to the Maetamann Elephant Camp (1 hr. north), where we set out on a 1 1/2 hr. forest trek by elephant-back! We’ll be working our way to the Lahu and Palong Hilltribe people. We return to camp by jeep and then do some trekking by oxcart. After lunch we’ll board bamboo refts that will gently float us downstream.

  Phuket
Located off the SW coast of Thailand, (2 hr. flight from Chiang Mai), is Thailand’s largest island. Phuket is internationally renowned for its beautiful beaches & excellent seafood. Here you’ll find fine sandy beaches, clear blue seas with colorful coral reefs, and a wide variety of water sports, diving & snorkeling. We’ll be providing optional day excursions to Phi Phi Island (site of the movie “The Beach”) and also to Phang Nga Bay with its weird limestone outcrops & James Bond Island.
